Join Paranormal Research York as we investigate The York Dungeon in the heart of York. For the first time ever, we are hosting two events in one night. This first event “Peek into the Paranormal” is for ages 16+. Whether you are under 18 or a first timer to ghost hunts, this is the event for you **Under 18’s MUST be accompanied by a paying adult** For your best experience, we are investigating while the nightclub is closed.
If you have ever been to York Dungeons to visit their macabre rooms and dark alleyways, you may have experienced something else, something watching you or an unexplained touch or whisper. Many people have reported such instances and we are going to look further into it.
Imagine how eerie this place will be when it is all quiet with no scary actors ready to jump out around dark corners. The darkness and the quiet allows the spirits to come out and put on their show… and they do! Staff often report eerie goings on once guests have left and stories have grown that need to be investigated.
Whilst in York terms this building is relatively new, built in the 19th century, this building was once the York Institute of Art, Science and Literature and a public library. But… the ground it was built on had the highest rates of poverty and crime in the city. Known now as Cumberland Street, it was once part of the infamous Water Lanes and Cumberland Street formed Middle Water Lane. The Water Lanes had the highest rates of poverty and crime in the city. Murder, mugging, poverty and prostitution was the norm and some people did whatever it took to make a penny! Peel back the years even further to when the Vikings and Romans used the area as unloading areas for the boats coming up the River Ouse…what spirits are wandering the old Middle Water Lane?
This event still gives the guest a full investigation experience, but we have taken some of our activities out of the programme to allow younger guests and the curious an opportunity to explore our world further.
You will always be accompanied by a team member who will be on hand to answer any questions and help with whatever is needed.
***This is an interactive event and you will get to try the investigation equipment for yourselves – you will be involved in the activities and investigation as much as you dare to be! ***
We offer an array of modern and traditional activities during our investigations and it is our aim to give you the best Ghost Hunting experience possible.
Due to restrictions, we ask you please to bring your own hot/cold drinks. We will provide a range of individually wrapped snacks. Clifford’s Tower Car Park is only a 5 min walk away
***(Please visit the Covid-19 section of our website for full safety measures)*** and for your additional reassurance, we have been awarded Visit England’s ‘Good to Go’ kitemark.
